"Why no Diabetic Nurses at consultant lead clinic"

About: Vale of Leven General Hospital

(as the patient),

I attend the Vale of Leven Diabetic Clinic which is consultant lead but why is there never a diabetic Specialist Nurse at the clinic if you need to speak with them as normally the nurses help me under stand my insulin doses as i am dyslexic with numbers, it seems this is hapening far to often i didnt want to ask the consultant as it is a busy clinic .

i had to leave the clinic confused of what was said but eventually having to right it in words on my own what was said.

it would be nice if there was someone like a Diabetic Nurse at the clinic as this happens often when other hospitals like the RAH have a nurse at the clinics but the vale of leven dont get a look in

Dear Waterloo,

I am sorry to read you are unhappy with the level of Nurse Led Services provided at the Vale of Leven Diabetic clinic and we have not met your expectations from your recent visit. I would like to confirm that the we offer 2.5 days of Diabetic Nurse appointments on the site and there is also a rapid access telephone advice line direct to the Diabetes service weekdays from 9am-5pm. This provides patient's the opportunity to discuss any concerns or difficulties in managing their condition as they occur and will if necessary be offered a face to face nurse consultation as a result. I can confirm this is consistent with other Diabetic services across GG&C.

During a clinic appointment with a Consultant Diabetologist, if they feel that a patient requires further support or education, they also have the opportunity to refer for Diabetic Nurse Specialist input.

The phone number to call Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm is - 0141 314 6639.

I am once again sorry that you left your appointment unclear of the additional options or support open to you and I hope you have found this response helpful.
