"Triage by unqualified receptionists"

About: Pathfields Medical Group

while I understand the pressure GP surgeries are under, to have to describe intimate symptoms to receptionists who then appear to be given decision making powers as to whether you merit a phone call from a gp is in my opinion unsafe practice. I was recently told that my gp was not available to make phone calls as they were booked up for weeks in advance. The service from this practice appears to have taken a nosedive at about the same time it expanded. I am left concerned that your receptionists are making decisions they do not have the information or training to make. They sound stressed and unfriendly. When I and my partner visit the practice the receptionists appear to have been given instructions not to acknowledge you in any way when you stand in front of them which feels gratuitously rude. I sympathise with their situation but have been made to feel humiliated and invisible which is not ok when you are already feeling ill.
