"Hour on hold to be told no appointments"

About: Merridale Medical Centre (Rp Tew)

I need a referral to audiology after a boots hearing test revealed I need hearing aids. As this is a non urgent matter I went into the centre on Friday to make an appointment and was told to call Monday morning to make a non urgent appointment for Wednesday. I have just spent 45 minutes in the queue and 10 minutes on hold to do this and was told all appointments are now booked. No apology for the long wait, just told to try tomorrow for Thursday, which I can't do because I'm at work. This is not the first time I have had to wait for non urgent appointments, the surgery needs to get someone in to man the desk to give the people answering the phone a chance to answer calls in a reasonable time

Dear Patient

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced problems when trying to book an appointment.

We have recently recruited additional receptionists to help with the high volume of calls that the Surgery receives and have recently recruited additional clinical members of staff to cope with the demand for appointments.

I hope the above points have helped clarify the situation.

Kind regards

Merridale Medical Centre
