I sustained a sporting injury which required ambulance attention at the venue. On arrival the two paramedics were immediately reassuring and attentive to my situation.
After initial assessment I was transferred to Scarborough A&E.
I had a half hour wait to be transferred to the assessment unit due to the number of people being admitted but was constantly looked after by the paramedics until I could be transferred.
My first encounter with the nurse was not reassuring. The attitude was rather cavalier which may work with some patients but I did not appreciate it. I mentioned this politely to the next team member who was very understanding.
I was assessed and then awaited transfer to a cubical. This again took around half hour but again all staff were extremely considerate caring and attentive.
When I was seen by the dr I was given all information along the way and again treat with respect understanding and lots of care.
What could have been an extremely serious situation for me resulted in a better prognosis.
I cannot imagine the staff could have treat me better on the whole and the time spent in the hospital of 5 hours (including sutre treatment) was reasonable in my opinion.
NHS staff do an amazing job and this experience (which I do not want to reparations!) has raised my opinion.
Thanks again
