I attended Mayflower Ward today for a 40 minute procedure. The letter informed me to attend at 12noon and we presumed we would be home by 5 (over an hour drive). We were left for 90 minutes before my details were taken and not seen until after4pm.
I understand that sometimes a long wait is involved but what I don't understand is why this is not mentioned in the appointment letter and why there is no communication whatsoever to let you know when you arrive that it could be a few hours.
If we had been informed that it could be around 4 hours my partner could have left me and gone home as our dog was shut in since 10am or we would have covered this.
The staff and hospital I have no complaints with but these were planned not emergency procedures and a bit of a heads up on timings would have stopped a lot of stress.
P.S. The dog didn't wee!
