"Cataract surgery"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital / Ophthalmology

I was first referred by my gp, in Nov/Dec 2017. My first three referrals were "lost" with he hospital staff denying all knowledge of them. The fourth referral was followed up with a phone call to be sure it had arrived, but when I ring several weeks later again I was told it wasn't there. Eventually it was found on some email list, but it still took weeks before I got an appointment for 19th June. This morning I had a letter cancelling that appointment and giving a new date of 14th August, nearly 9 months after my first referral. This makes a mockery of the hospital statement that 9/10 patients get treated within 17 weeks.

We are terribly sorry to hear you have had such a poor experience with our Ophthalmology Department and we would like to look into this further. If you would like to discuss this with a member of our PALS team (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) please email PALS@mkuh.nhs.uk or call 01908 995954. Once again we are sorry to hear of the low level of care you have received.
