"UCLH- ward T9. A bad experience"

About: University College Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Last week I had surgery in London at UCH to remove an inflamed appendix.

The doctors that saw me in A&E were allright, some nice and helpfull. Also the surgeon team who did the surgery made me feel at ease and put my fear away.

However, I feel the care given after the surgery by the team of nurses involved in my care and a HCA in ward T9 was horrible!

First of all I found some of them highly unprofessional by arguing a lot in front of the patients! It made me and I think some other patients feel guilty that we called for help!

Also, when ringing the bell for some water or for some information, I had a nurse come to me after a long wait and ask "what do you want, can't you see I'm busy''?

At handover time it happened many times that the nurses involved in my care gave wrong information about my condition and when I tried to correct them they simply acted as if I was invisible.

The ward's bathroom was really dirty and I had to ask quite a lot of people to do something about this.

I must say that in my opinion most of the nurses that I saw and the hca were really unprofessional and very uncaring (some were nice, but I was not the lucky one to have them all the time).
