I went into the Day Surgery unit for a small operation. You're made so welcome from the minute you get in there. I wasn't worried about my procedure but for people who are, the staff put you at total ease. I didn't have to wait long on the ward before I went in for surgery. Nothing is too much trouble and you get a lovely cup of tea and toast after!
I've had better service here than at some hotels I've stopped in, you simply cannot fault the care and dedication.
The one negative thing I have to say?
Staff on the main reception are the most ignorant people I've ever met. There isn't one bit of acknowledgement, not even an "I'm sorry, I'll be with you in a minute"
You can stand there for a lifetime and have to ask if anyone's working today. You simply get a look of disgust. There's one member of staff who just keeps walking in and out of the office, another one talking or simply ignoring you.
I don't mind waiting as long as I'm acknowledged! They make you feel like the world owes them a favour and it's a real let down to the rest of the hospital. I even had to ask someone else for directions as she gave me the wrong information and as I'm on crutches it's hard to keep walking about. I also once had to call the department from the queue to tell them I was going to be late as the reception staff were making everyone wait
"Brilliant day care staff"
