I was admitted to the cardiology department on 3 May 2018 as an emergency.
As I am normally in very good health I was absolutely terrified of the experience I was about to undergo.
But I needn't have worried.
From the moment of arrival staff did everthing they could to put me at ease and I immediately got the feeling that I was in very good hands and had nothing to worry about.
The operation to insert a pacemaker went very smoothly - easier than a dental procedure! and was over in no time (or so it felt as it must have taken nearly an hour)
Although I had just a local anaesthetic I felt no pain and was very relaxed during the procedure.
The consultant remained close at all times and was attended by two very competent assistants.
Afterwards they came down to see if I was alright as I was. - the icing on the cake.
I am now much better.
I didn't realise how ill I was and fortunately they didn't tell me I had a complete blockage until much later or I would probably have had a second heart attack
