"I owe you my life"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

After a colonoscopy revealed a large rectal polyp I had it removed just eight days later and two weeks later I received the news that tests had shown the polyp to be cancerous.

I was immediately scheduled for surgery to be preceded with various scans to determine whether the cancer had spread, and the exact layout of my insides to guide the surgeon in his task. Over the next four weeks I had both a CAT scan and a MRI with surgery one week later when a small part of my upper Rectum was removed by keyhole surgery. I was allowed home four days later and ten days later was told that the operation had been a complete success with no further cancer cells found in the removed sections.

Throughout I had the benefit of the most wonderful surgical team at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and the care of attention of all whom I came into contact with, who were all unfailingly helpful kind and courteous. Everything was done to make me feel as comfortable as possible and everything was explained to me at every stage. I cannot speak highly enough of everyone at Doncaster Royal Infirmary - quite simply, I owe you my life, thank you.
