It was a medication review. Nothing was checked eg blood pressure, nothing. I told the doctor I started to struggle again and the preventative meds I'm on don't seem to be as effective. She immediately responded with 'I'll put you on another tablet of what you already have' I explained that when previously tried that when initially put on the meds I felt shaky and dazed. The doctor replied 'really?!' In a questioning tone as if I was exaggerating or mistaken. When I advised yes. Again she said 'really''.Although I shrugged this off and could have misinterpreted I must say throughout the consultation I was made to feel like I was a burden, that the doctor was uninterested, gave me limited information just quickly wanted to get me out. My migraines are at times debilitating and scary. I understand people who have not experienced a migraine themselves to shrug it off or think your being irrational or exaggerating. However, I don't expect that from a doctor and that was the feeling I was left with by the end of that appointment. I expected a thorough check to decide whether I should continue with my meds. Also worth mentioning I'm prescribed another med to take for the onset of a migraine which I explained I don't take because it makes me feel worse, my jaw feels heavy and listed how it made me feel....this was ignored, no alternative given and as far as I'm aware there still on my prescription. All in all I came away feeling uneasy with the meds and not at all listened to. Migraines can be debilitating and can make you feel desperate they should not be swept under the carpet. My appointment lasted 2 mins and I appreciate the pressure and time constraints doctors are under but concern and care must still be given.
