"Meditation and relaxation course Vestry hall in May 2018"

About: Community mental health services / Recovery College

(as a service user),

I attended the above named course as I had got out of the habit of practising meditation effectively after attending the Mindfulness Meditation course some time ago. Throughout the course, both Angelica and Stella conducted themselves in a very professional manner.  Angelica and Stella worked very well together. This was evidenced throughout the delivery of the course content which was delivered in a helpful, clear and concise way. Both ladies always asked if there were any questions and answered them in a detailed and very explanatory fashion. When I started the course on 2 May, I was struggling with depression and anxiety and unknown to me, my mood was noticed by other course participants. Yesterday I was told by several of them, that they had noticed a huge change in me as have I. This can only be attributed to the commitment and dedication of Stella and Angelica. Throughout the course, I learned about different types of relaxation and meditative techniques and had plenty of practice during the sessions. I have been able to implement some of the things I have learned and also will be delving deeper to find out more about having compassion towards myself as well as venturing into national trust venues and parks in order to connect with nature. I have learnt so much in such a short period of time and Wednesday afternoons were the highlight of my week.  This was because I knew I would be amongst like minded people and that two highly skilled and dedicated tutors would be teaching more useful tools to add to my recovery tool box- although a list of useful literature and websites might be helpful. Angelica and Stella not only taught and delivered the course content well, but they made themselves available during the breaks and before/after the sessions to speak with course participants should they feel they needed to. Stella and Angelica's personalities shone through and I would describe them as dedicated, empathetic, patient, knowledgeable, kind and each with a great sense of humour. Humour and much enjoyment were part of the course for me due to the rapport amongst both tutors and participants alike. I cannot thank the Recovery College enough for these courses. They are absolutely priceless and without them I don't know where I will be. It has been 2 years and 4 months since I have had a depressive relapse and whilst I know I have to be committed to attending the course and implementing what I have learned in my daily life in order to recover and grow, if the Recovery College did not run such  fantastic courses I would not be given this opportunity. I made a statement which Stella really loved and we all laughed about it. FANTASTIC COURSE, FANTASTIC TUTORS, FANTASTIC PARTICIPANTS.... THANK YOU.
