What I liked
I can only refer to the treatment I received and what I witnessed on Woodpecker ward. which was outstanding in my opinion. I cannot comment on other wards but I hope it would be as good.
I was at all times treated with the greatest respect and kindness; nothing was too much trouble. I was also fortunate to see older patients treated extra-ordinarily well; it was a privilege to see the care and concern with which they were treated by all members of staff, including cleaning staff. The ethos on the ward was one of total respect and care. Patients who could not eat easily were helped and encouraged; I even heard a nurse suggesting that she would bring in something special for a patient to encourage her to eat. Patients concerns and worries were taken seriously and responded to. What I saw on the ward was worthy of commendation and so opposite to the impression sometimes given as being the norm, where patients are ignored and left without any attention. I would be happy for any older relative who needed a lot of care to be looked after on Woodpecker ward.
In addition the ward was very clean and the cleaning staff attentive to detail, taking a pride in their work.
All staff were professional; I am delighted to be able to compliment the whole staff group.
What could be improved
Nothing
