My son was admitted to ward 5 ,he was suffering from a pleural effusion, my son has severe learning difficulties and is totally dependent for all his needs, plus has complex medical problems,
It was very difficult fotthe doctors to treat my son when he developed pneumonia,as he was so resistant to antibiotics. How ever he did improve and was discharged back home but was readmittedon several occasions, and spent time on ward 3 and 15 as his condition deteriorated badly despite the best efforts of the medical and nursing staff Douglas was put on end of life care ,this of course was very distressing I was supported by the whole team the wonderful nursing staff including the McMillan nurses , the terrific Matron for learning difficulties, they sister, a truly gifted nurse, staff nurse and the community specialist community, all the house keepers ,catering staff. Eventually recovered enough to be transferred to West Sussex into aexcellent nursing home where he has gone from strength to strength. A huge thank you to all the staff who cared for my son .the NHS at its best .
