"Miss-Diagnosis of serious eye condition!."

About: Solihull Hospital

What I liked

Fairly prompt service.

What could be improved

This website is hard to find anything in and I cannot find the right place to send this complaint, but here goes anyway.

On 26th August 2011 at around 10:00 hrs, I visited Solihull Hospital A&E with floaters in my eye and was miss-diagnosed by a charge nurse, who diagnosed an eye infection and told me to take Piratin to treat the condition.

After 3 days of no improvement, I called NHS Direct who advised me to attend an Eye Clinic immediately.

I was subsequently diagnosed with a retinal tear and underwent surgery, from which I am still recovering, in a bid to prevent the retina from completely detaching and the complete loss of sight in that eye .

Whilst I am not seeking compensation at this time, I am seeking an explanation as to why I was so badly miss-diagnosed at Solihull A&E and what steps will be taken to prevent this happening in future, before you blind some poor unsuspecting soul. (I was not seen by a doctor at Solihull A&E.)
