"I am worthwhile and have something to live for"

About: Inclusion Recovery Hampshire / New Forest

(as a service user),

I'm sixty six years of age and abusing substances (illegal & legal) since age of fourteen! Moved all over the place unable to put roots down stay/remain in healthy relationships ect. Lost everything, family, property, career, friends ect- in denial most of life helping others but not dealing with my own issues.

Been with Inclusion Services (N Milton New Forest) for about six months and my life HAS CHANGED THANKS to support worker Kerry - Now clean since January 2018. No illegal drugs and sober/dry for a month. Attending weekly groups (support groups) which I find v. helpful and due to have one to one counselling about my childhood abuse issues - something which I haven't been allowed to access up until now thanks to Inclusion Services getting to root of problems to deal effectively with Issues!

Been in psychiatric services since early 20's - just perpetuated the problems and attracted to abusive relationships/ self sabotage ect ect. Now have healthy relationship with older brother who's supporting me in recovery - he has his own issues which he's not dealing with denial - off all my psychiatric drugs + using Inclusion to help me come to terms with life .

My support worker has abled me to see I am worthwhile and have something to live for - (For years couldn't see a reason to live and attempted suicide many times in the past). Now I actually want to live and want to work on my recovery even dealing with my physical/medical issues which I have shunned in the past.  I can honestly say without Kerry @ Inclusion (stood by me during my relapses + doubts) I wouldn't have a future clean/sober + healthy, something to look forward to. - She's recently given me v. helpful text book on borderline personality disorder (have had every psychiatric diagnosis) And immediately felt as overwhelming sense of relief - Finally someone can and wants to help me -

Now I'm wanting to help everybody else including my nephews/ family ect. Have a long way to go but she's enabled me to see a light at the end of the tunnel and have hope/belief that my negative/positive experiences can help pothers not only myself. - Thank you for a healthy future!!

We value all feedback from the people who use our services and although your experience has been a positive one to date, we are always looking to improve. I would like to invite you, as we do to all of our Service Users, to get involved in our local hub forums to ensure your ideas and experiences can be shared and taken forward through our Hampshire wide forums, and onwards to our national Inclusion forums.

Please ask your Recovery Worker for details.

I would like to take the opportunity again to thank you for your message and I can assure you that this will be taken back to the New Forest team.
