"Difficult to get appointments & slow in sending..."

About: De Parys Medical Centre

Difficult to get in appointment phone line. After holding the line for 30 min, the receptionist says - No appointment available for a month. Call tomorrow at 8 AM we will try to give one... again line busy for 20 min and then sorry nothing available today.

Online system shows is no better, no appointment slots for months.

My wife was diagnosed with a cyst on her liver. For 2 weeks the referral was not sent to NHS. Delay will be blamed to NHS waiting time.... reality is inaction from the GP.

A Veroca on left feet of my Wife was diagnosed as Corn... she had to go thru the pain.

A medicine was prescribed which is not available in any pharmacy... went thru searching for 2 hours

If you complain the answer is if you are not happy with the service leave the GP as if they are doing charity to me.

I hope that you will now see an improvement in waiting times for appointments.

I agree patients wanting a routine appointment have had to wait longer than usual recently, because we have been moving to a 7 day booking system.

This is now fully implemented, so it should be possible to get an appointment or booked telephone appointment much more quickly.

During this "transition" period we have fully maintained same day duty doctor appointments for medically urgent problems, and have also had daily prescribing nurse appointments, which would have been suitable for your wife's verruca.

We urge you to explain to the Receptionist (briefly) what the appointment is for, and they will do their best to point you in the right direction - which may not be a face to face doctor's appointment.

Thank you for your feedback. Although it appears that your comment was posted on 29.10.19 we have only just received notification of this. This might make it more difficult to respond appropriately. All branches are now on the new telephone system which allows all Patient Support staff to pick up all calls from any branch, and we are finding that this is easing the queuing time on the telephones. However we apologise if you experienced difficulties back in October. We are also now offering routine appointments with a Doctor for 7th January 2020 so availability has improved slightly. If you wish me to investigate the other issues raised please email thedeparysgroup@nhs.net and mark for my attention.
