My name is Peter and I have been coming to Wrightington Hospital for well over 60 years. My dad had been to other hospitals and was in a bad state our Dr at the time saw my dad and said I'm getting you into Wrightington Hospital, It was a long time since my dad walked but the consultant operated on my dad's legs and got my dad walking again.
My mum and dad had four boys it is osteoarthritis in our family the first one of the family does not get it, there was four brothers, and two had been to Stoke-on-Trent.
In them days they was put you in four stone of plaster, from your chest and down both legs with bars across. You were in hospital about 18 months.
Years later they went into Wrightington Hospital and had hips and shoulders knees and ankles their hips lasted over 40 years.
There children got osteoarthritis and had hips knees and shoulders, once again the first one in the family did not get it, then my children came along my eldest son is free from osteoarthritis my youngest son and my daughter have had hips in.
I have had hips and shoulders spine and my foot operated on, I have been to two other hospitals and both times my operations went wrong and I also got MRSA. I walk up on the operating table and they were hitting my hip in that hard that my teeth and fillings were coming out and I could feel the roots of my teeth coming loose.
So I asked to go back to Wrightington I had to have a pseudo-operation it must have taken about five years and three operations to get walking properly again, my surgeon has done a wonderful job on me over the years getting me back walking.
The point of me writing this letter is that not one operation has gone wrong in our family over 60 years all the credit to the surgeon's and staff at Wrightington Hospital they must be doing something right.
I hope they put this letter up on the noticeboard, to let you know you could not be in safer hands
Respectfully yours Peter. 21/05/2018
