In December 2013 I was referred to Airedale General Hospital as I had been diagnosed with two aneurysms. From the outset the surgeon dealt with me in a friendly, efficient and professional way. He explained to me in detail what was entailed with my treatment and the timetable for the operation. I was operated upon in February 2014, as planned, at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
The operation was a success and each year I have a follow-up scan to see if everything is still ok and then I receive a follow-up telephone appointment to discuss the scan. These telephone appointments are conducted at the time stated. The surgeon appears to be very well organised.
This year I had a separate problem which may or may not have been related to the aneurysm. My telephone appointment was scheduled for the morning and my ultrasound for my new problem was in the afternoon of the same day. I mentioned the fact to the surgeon who said he would look out for the results of the ultrasound as he was in Airedale the following day. In fact he actually spoke to the radiologist the same day and on the following he rang me to tell me the results.
Think was above and beyand the call of duty of the surgeon to take time out of his busy day to pass on the message.
To me this is a good example of excellent medical practice.
many thanks
