I went for a surgical abortion at Bpas Stretham last week . I was 8 weeks and 1 day pregnant and opted for local anaesthesia . Only downside I could think of was long wait .at clinic .you will wait upto 6 /7 hours before being seen by your consultant . I wish they were to make it clearv while they book you in and or make it clear in their reception area when expectant mothers check in for their appt . By doing so, it will surely save already stressful pregnant ladies ( prior to abortion) from further stress . Once you are called in, you will meet up with lovely and compassionate team of consultant ,and health care assistants . I was on my own but they were holding my hand and giving me all emotional support in the best possible way . Once I was in recovery room, staff would check on you and offer you some snacks . Parking outside clinic is tricky so your best bet is to either take public transport or book yourself a taxi . I got there by taxi. After my abortion , I asked at reception and they gave me number of taxi service from near by . Food points are about 10 min walk away from clinic . I went out to grab some halal food at lunch time . I’m told clinic is booked for 18 abortions per day . So they will go beyond closing time to ensure all 18 abotions are carried out for the day before staff go home for the day. It was hadest decision by me to go through abortion but being a depression sufferer I knew I would not be able to cope with the needs of an other humanbeing .
"Fairly happy patient"
