"Trauma"

About: Darent Valley Hospital / Maternity

I normally have a really good experience with the staff in the maternity ward, however, I was 33 weeks pregnant when I was hit into my belly by accident. I was in a massive pain and obviously concerned about the baby. When I called the unit to ask for advice, I've been told to take some paracetamol and go to bed. I am not sure if this is the right thing to say to someone who had a trauma. I've always had a really warm response from the nurses, but this was a quite different experience. I basically had to say that I am actually coming to be seen even I was encouraged to stay at home. I am sorry if I am wrong, I am still not sure if this is the right procedure to say to a woman who's been hit in the stomach to stay at home? I am just concerned about the future mums going through the same thing as me. Should this be changed?

Thank you for your understanding and I would still highly recommend this unit as you have an amazing staff.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experience within our Maternity Department.

I am extremely sorry that on this occasion you had a negative experience.

I would like to offer you an opportunity to discuss your experience with a one to one appointment.

If this is something that you feel would be beneficial, please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01322 428382 or email dgn-tr.pals@nhs.net and an appointment will be arranged.

Kind Regards
