I would be grateful if someone could explain why it takes 6 weeks for the results of a test done within the hospital to be sent to the Consultant who requested it.
I was fast tracked by my G.P, saw a Consultant on 27th March, had a barium enema on the 17th April ( I cannot fault the staff or the technician who performed it, they and their department were excellent) but since then have heard absolutely nothing. Neither according to his secretary, has the Consultant!!
I find it seriously hard to believe in this day of super technology that it takes such an unacceptable amount of time for interaction between departments within the same hospital.
What is the point of a G.P fast tracking a patient if it all collapses at the all important point of a speedy diagnosis and treatment?
I have been able to glean enough information from my copy of the letter sent from the Consultant to the G.P and with the aid of Google, to temporarily help myself.
A far from ideal or even safe situation but the only one that has been available to me for weeks!!
I look forward to some sort of positive response.
