"lack of knowledge of mental illness"

About: Castle Medical Practice

my daughter has just had a telephone consultation with her doctor because she needs a simple letter stating she was too ill to sit her university exam in May , so that she can re sit it in August. she is on a years break from university due to suffering severe mental and physical abuse and she is diagnosed with Post traumatic stress syndrome. she has undergone surgery, counselling, and various anti depressants. She came off the last tablets as she suffered allergic reactions. She is trying self help methods but she has many bad days and has become violent towards her younger sister who has anorexia , so I have sent her to stay with my sister to give us all a break,

Our Doctor has refused to write a letter as she hasn't seen her since xmas and when my daughter told the receptionist/ practice manager that she will come home, so could she be given an appointment, she was told no appointments were available until the end of June. my daughter broke down crying and said without this letter she will not be allowed to continue university and would they please help. she was given an abrupt " we can't help you. good-bye"

My daughter's life was destroyed by abuse and she is trying to carry on with her education and fights every day to combat her feelings of worthlessness and despair only to be dismissed by this practise as if she has no more than a common cold and is not worth anyone's time.

How dare you? You obviously have no idea regarding mental illness and the damage you have just caused.

This is my daughter's future and she only has one more chance to complete her course and get the degree she so deserves. I will not let this go,

I have been a patient her for over 35 years and the staff used to be so kind. What has happened to you?
