I have lost confidence that this surgery can offer a competent level of care for my family and having experienced what good looks like elsewhere and Burbage surgery falls far from the mark.
I'm not one to complain about the NHS because on the whole i have the upmost respect and gratitude for all the staff I have encountered until now. After my wife contacted the surgery today following advice from her midwife and I was apalled by the doctors response. The midwife advised my wife to make sure she received treatment for a water infection as she had a number of symptoms that could cause premature labour, which had been ongoing since the beginning of April. We were advised by the doctor that the infection did not require treatment before and that "we have been here before haven't we" the message was clearly and rudely that they didn't feel treatment was necessary however "we would not want you to think this caused premature labour if that was to happen would we so I will prescribe the antibiotics required." Whilst I understand the need to limit prescription of antibiotics this is the same doctor that several months earlier prescribed the incorrect antibiotics to my three year old daughter after a 2 minute conversation and diagnosis over the phone!
My wife really wouldn't have even contacted the practice if she had not been advised by the midwife. I do understand this is a busy surgery and that the doctors are under pressure because of the large number of registered patients but it does not excuse rudeness and a patronising bedside manner which I personally have also experienced in the past by the same individual.
"Disappointed"
