As a former nurse my aunt (85) was very anxious having heard negative stories about Victoria Hospital and the Assessment Units in particular from friends. However following unusual outcomes of blood tests she was told by her GP she had to report to hospital immediately. From then on, her experiences were flawless.
1. She was allocated a bed immediately.
2. She was shown care and concern
3. We as visitors / next of kin were kept fully informed.
4. A full range of diagnostic tests was carried out.
5. Four hours after arriving at the hospital the doctor came to see my aunt again and explained everything in detail. He was well-informd about her medical history, listened attentively, showed genuine empathy and explained clearly and without condescension. A real asset to the profession.
6. She was discharged but having had her faith in the NHS and in Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy in particular fully restored.
