"Colonoscopy examination."

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital

I attended the Endoscopy unit on Sunday 20/5/18 for an examination.

From first entering the unit I was greeted by a receptionist who was friendly and helpful.

After checking my identity I had to fill out a short questionnaire which took apps 5 mins.

I sat in the waiting area for less than 10mins when I was taken to a private room by the admission nurse who checked my blood pressure and asked me a few questions.

Then the procedure was thoroughly explained to me and the sedative options were explained. The admission nurse was friendly helpful polite courteous and respected my dignity at all times.

After changing into the required gowns and apparel required I was taken to the room were the procedure was carried out and greeted by 3 members of staff who were all friendly and courteous. The procedure was explained again and I was reassured. Although very slightly uncomfortable the procedure lasted less than 25mins and I was reassured and comforted throughout.

After the examination I was taken to a recovery room and again the staff were very friendly and courteous. I spent apps 30mins in the recovery room and as I had opted for the "gas & air" sedation I was free to leave and discharged.

My overall assessment of the whole experience is one of gratitude and all of the staff were friendly polite courteous and very reassuring and I cannot praise them highly enough.

Thank you to all the staff who looked after me and made me feel so relaxed and comfortable.
