"Puncture wound from stray cat"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Minor injuries unit

(as the patient),

I had to attend the minor injuries unit after suffering a puncture trying to help a stray cat. My finger had become very swollen and I was worried about infection.

I was seen very quickly at the minor injuries unit by a nurse, John who cleaned and dressed the wound and gave me a course of antibiotics. He explained aftercare and what to look out for in case I needed further treatment if the wound got worse.

He was really pleasant and helpful.

Dear Millie1811,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on Care Opinion.

I am sorry to hear that you were injured while trying to help a stray cat; this must have been upsetting, especially when your finger became infected.

I will share your kind comments with the team in the Minor Injury Unit in the New Victoria Hospital; they will be happy to hear that they made you feel looked after.

I hope that your wound is healing and that your are recovering well.

Best wishes,

Antje
