"Refused Treatment"

About: University Hospital Lewisham / Accident and emergency

On Tuesday 1st May went to lewisham A&E with severe pain upper right quadrant . I already know I had gallstones and was awaiting surgery. Was seen by Dr then waited to see surgeon. Was given painkillers and discharged even though I was in excruciating pain.

Thursday 3rd May taken by Ambulance to lewisham A&E same pain only more severe. Same process see Dr then waited to see surgeon several hours. The same surgeon as Tuesday, he took one look at me and told me he will not treat me as I am on the waiting list and that I should go to Queen Elizabeth hospital woolwich. Gave me Antibiotics and pain killers. Discharged me told me next time go straight to QE. I tried to explain I was staying local to lewisham with my partner as I am constantly in pain. He had no concern for my welfare, repeated himself “ do not return here we cannot treat you “.

Saturday 5th pm in excruciating pain. Called Ambulance Sunday morning 02:00 taken to Lewisham hospital A&E. Waited to see Dr then waited to see a surgeon. Guess what!? Yes same surgeon. He didn’t even come into see me. We heard him clearly talking to staff other side of curtain “ John Bolton has been here several times this week. Send him home with painkillers “

The Dr was not happy with this . My blood pressure 230/104 very high heart rate.

Dr demanded that the surgeon come back to look at me. We waited again for his return. Finally he came back entered the room and greeted me with “ back again” I explained I was in agony and that I had spoken with QE and I am not on any waiting list. The surgeon was not concerned in the slightest and just repeated he would not treat me and that I need to go to QE. I was disgusted! We argued and it ended with me removing my own cannula and leaving. I had to make my own way to QE where I was treated with respect and compassion. After getting my blood pressure and heart rate under control I had a couple of scans. My gallbladder had ruptured. I had surgery and they found also my gallbladder was gangrene. I was in hospital for a week. On one visit by the surgical team they explained to me what they had done and that I must of been in considerable pain. Yes lewisham A&E I was. I intend to seek legal advice on where I take this next regarding the surgeon at lewisham A&E. As for QE woolwich absolutely amazing!
