After attending ward 14 for a bowel resection on the 9th of May 2018 I would not recomend ward 14 to my family and friends. My surgery was a success and I can not take that away from the Consultant. Well done and thank you. However, it all went down hill from there. I awoke in recovery with a bruise and blisters on my bottom, the Consultant ordered an immediate investigation. Once I returned to the ward, I was administered with an incorrect iv solution which caused my bp to plummit and although I was level 1 care, the nurses did not respond to the alarm from my monitor for some time. It was also questioned on njmerous occasions why I was level 1 which I did not appreciate. At times I was afraid at the level of care I received i also did not have a buzzer to make them aware. As soon as they realised a mistake had been made, a new solution was administered speedily via iv. They were concerned by my low urine output, only later in the night when I felt as though I was going to burst from needing the toilet was it discovered my catheter was trapped and unable to drain. Now back to my back wound, i had kept asking about this as the blister had merged together and burst, i was advised to lay on my side and use a barrier cream. I was insistant it would become infected. I was discharged Saturday 12th of May and had to attend my GP for antibiotics on Monday 14th of May. Was checked by district nurse today 18th of May, still infected and now dressed. The concern now is deeper tissue damage and I have to put no pressure on it which is pretty impossible when recovering from a bowel reection and trying to be comfortable.
"Thank you to my Consultant, you were fantastic..."
