"Appointments procedure a nightmare"

About: Sussex Eye Hospital / Ophthalmology

Since I've been attending the Sussex Eye Hospital I have had constant problems with the appointments department. Last year despite numerous reminders I was kept waiting NINE months for what was supposed to be a regular three-monthly visit -- despite the consultant's intervention. This year they offered me an appointment on exactly the day I told them I couldn't attend without significant loss of work income. Since then I've been trying in vain to change it. They don't call back when promised, they lose messages, they don't like to tell you what's going on, and some get aggressive when challenged. This system is plainly NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. It seems to exist only for the staff's convenience and not at all to help the poor patient.

Previously for some years I attended the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath and never once was there a problem with the appointments system there. So it CAN be done well.

Sorry but this is not good enough and I wish urgently to take the matter to a higher authority.
