"Incredibly useful Inspire programme"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Critical Care Unit

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Monklands hospital in February 2017 with pneumonia.  I spent two weeks in ICU one week on a Ventilator.

I also have Multiple Sclerosis and this contributed to my situation.

I have struggled with my health and mobility more so since Feb 2017 and have since been diagnosed with Diabetes, Fatty Liver Disease and High Blood pressure.  I have attended all the associated clinics and found them really helpful.

I also attended the Inspire programme a programme specifically tailored for patients who had been admitted to ICU.  I have found this programme incredibly useful and has really helped me in terms of understanding what happened during my ICU stay and how this would impact me longer term, setting me up with the information and help i needed.

Dear cooper2712

Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback your story and experience.

To receive this information is really valuable and I am pleased to hear you are getting good help with your on-going health issues.

The InSpire programme is designed to address the multifactorial elements during the recovery phase from a critical illness and the team at University Hospital Monklands ICU will be delighted to hear such positive feedback. The impact this programme is having on individuals is really rewarding and this programme is hoped to show that there is an unmet need for multiprofessional support during the often prolonged and life changing recovery from a life threatening critical illness.

I will be sure to share with the teams involved.

Kind regards

Rory MacKenzie
