I arrived at A&E with my son at 9:30pm ish . He was complaining of chest pain . Our concern was a close family member last year 2017 thought he had heartburn , but sadly had a cardiac arrest and passed away at the age of 49 .
On arrrival , we met the receptionist who booked us in. We stood up near the reception area , hoping the triage would soon shout my son’s name . However it soon became evident that we had a long wait to see the triage as the waiting room was at full capacity , coupled with a vast amount of emergencies via Ambulance to cope with . 2 hours later , the triage shouted my son and she carried out his observations , and said there would be a 3 hour wait . We found a couple of seats and waitied. A short time after , a nurse shouted my son and carried out an ECG in the blood room , then another nurse came in and took bloods. We waited. A Doctor came out and shouted my son , we went in a bay and he asked a series of questions , listened to his heart and diagnosed him with heartburn . The blood results were fine . He recommended some tablets and advised my son to change his diet and lifestyle . We walked away at 1:30am feeling relieved , feeling a sense of inner peace that nothing was wrong - And we could go home and sleep, safe in the knowledge that the Doctor had confirmed that he was ok .
My son and I would like to pass on our huge thanks to ALL the staff - from the reception to the Nurses / Doctors who were amazing despite being under pressure , they were all calm , and professional .
Superb . Inspirational .
"Superb"
