"Doctors Appointments"

About: Devon Access and Referral Team (DART) Newton Abbot Community Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a relative),

My son visited our local GP in May this year, he was referred to Paediatrics and a letter was sent via DART to make an appointment for him. They gave me a date for July, but unfortunately we had a prior long standing appointment that we couldn't alter, so the appointment was booked for mid August, this was cancelled and a further appointment for late August was made, again this was cancelled, we then had to wait until the end of September for our next appointment and once again this has been cancelled and now have to wait until the end of October!

The goverment has rules that the patient should be seen within 6 weeks, from seeing our GP to the next appointment will be 24 weeks.

Everytime the appointment has been cancelled the reason is "due to sickness", where are the locums or registrars that could quite easily see to the patients?

Also, all the appointments for children are in school hours, the goverment ask us not to remove children from school but the appointments are all within school hours, when I asked for an appointment after 3.30pm, I was informed that the times are 12 noon and last appointment is 2.50pm!
