"8 month waiting time because of mistake referral"

At the beginning of the year, my son was recently referred to CAMHS.  I didn't  hear anything for 2  months for his initial assesment, I finally got an appointment. What a waste of time! My son was asked if he knew anything about PDA or ADHD?! What? He's a child and no he doesn't know and why should he know, we were there for a diagnosis I thought. We were given info on parenting groups etc., and when I rang them back the next day to say there weren't any courses scheduled,  she told me that they were the wrong courses!!

Here we are 2 months later and yesterday I was told he should be added to the waiting list to see a professional for diagnosis. They told me they had made a mistake about diagnosing him with  ADHD and that he had been attached to a different team which didn't need diagnosis, they didn't know how that happened. Oh yes and now it'll be 8 months before he will be seen because of the waiting list.  Thanks CAMHS Epsom you have just wasted 3 months of my son's prescious undiagnosed life.
