"Total knee replacement"

About: Leighton Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I Had my total knee replacement 8 days ago and I can honestly say 5 star treatment. I have many problems which needed ensuring it was safe and the operation organised bring another consultant in for something else too so thanks to scheduler and surgeons.

Thanks to the surgeon for doing the knee replacement and it was not as bad as I thought. He made you feel at ease, any questions were answered no matter how small. The theatre staff were very good and recovery too as I spent few hours in there. The ward staff were brilliant Sister, nurses and the health cares deserve a medal they are brilliant, too many to re,e,beer all of there names.

Physio and OT too without all of these working together you wouldn’t achieve the results.

It’s early days for me yet but so far so good,. I felt I was treated as an individual, you are not left pain relief is given to enable you to move and walk, do the exercises.

Lots of encoragmemt are given to mobilise and gently do the exercises this really helps especially for me as I was so scared too.

Ice has become my best friend

Thank you for your lovely comments on NHS choices following your recent Total Knee Replacement. We are very pleased to hear that your experience was a very positive one and that all of the staff that you met made you feel at ease and helped you to achieve a positive outcome following your TKR. Please accept our very best wishes for your continued recovery.
