"ward 28"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Infectious diseases

Please note the positive aspects of this review is regarding ward 28 (now known as ward 28A/B) and not the hospital in general.

My mom has experienced truely awful care in certain areas of this hospital..to the point we had to convince her not to discharge herself despite being on oxygen and iv antibiotics.

However ward 28 is a fantastic ward. The doctors and nurses are beyond fantastic.Within an hour of transfer my mom has begun recieving top class care. She was in ward 28 last month also and they are a true example of how a ward should operate.

I am very shocked that the care can vary so widely within one hospital.

I urge you to take example of this fantastic ward....it seems unacceptable that not all the wards in heartlands provide such top class care as ward 28 does

Dear 1b

I am very sorry to learn of your experience whilst your mother was an inpatient under the care of our Trust and the impression that it has left.

All feedback, whether it is negative or positive is used by our Patient Experience Team to identify themes and trends across the organisation to highlight areas of improvement.

Your comments have been forwarded to the Patient Experience Team in the event that lessons can be learnt.

I am glad to read that your experience on ward 28A/B was fantastic and was a more positive one under the circumstances in which your mother had been attending. I will forward your posting to the relevant senior teams, I will ask that your posting is shared with the relevant staff, as I am sure they will be delighted to read your positive comments.

If you would be willing to provide further details of the particular wards, together with your mothers name, address and date of birth, as a Trust, we would welcome the opportunity to review her care.

You can do this by contacting a member of the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808 or you can email your concerns to bhs-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net who can then take the necessary action.

If you do contact our team, can I please ask you to advise the member of staff that you are responding to your

NHS Choices Posting.

I do hope that your mother is doing well and wish her all the best with her future care and treatment.

Kindest regards

Patient Services Team
