What I liked

I was in Ward 4 at Heatherwood for three days for a lumbar decompression. I would like to praise all those responsible for the quality of care I received. The nursing at all levels was fully informative, considerate and responsive and when I needed the call button, it was answered without delay. The meal menu was astonishingly extensive and varied, and the meals I chose were all well-presented, hot and tasty. The ward seemed to be spotlessly clean and was cleaned repeatedly during the day.

Problems in the NHS are well publicised, sometimes with relish, so I thought it important to give praise from my own experience. I have no doubt that standards like this are not easily achieved.

What could be improved

The free bedside radio service has apparently been reduced from Radios 2, 3, 4 and "Radio Heatherwood" to just Heatherwood alone. I would have relished the opportunity to listen to Radio 4 had it been available.
