I visited the hospital today third time in 8 weeks to see a consultant. As usual reception staff very helpful, nurse on the clinic very efficient, and consultant really thorough and talked the whole proceedure and options through with me, inspiring my confidence in his and his teams care.
HOWEVER - the only bad side of the visit came when 2 other patients (both in their seventies and who should know better) felt it was their right to criticise every member of staff for the size of "their Backside" even saying that it is disgusting that one of the curvier nurses should be working in a hospital. I felt it my moral duty to tell them both that if they have those opinions by their age they should have learnt to keep them too themselves, and in any case the nurse could choose to lose weight if she wanted to but they unfortunately could not change their looks or their very dark personalities. I also told them their comments amounted to abuse of the staff. Lets get this straight, people who work in the NHS work damn hard and for little thanks. Yes they get paid, but they are not paid to be insulted because of their looks or their weight. Well i just want to say, I am sick, and I am grateful to be treated by anyone who can help me get better, I dont care if they are fat , thin, bald, male, female, black, white, or orange. As long as they do the job they are there for thats all that matters. Thank you all of you. Rant over
"Shame staff cannot review patients"
