After being sent away from original appointment he attended for, due to staff sickness, my partner was given a new appointment. His tests results were all fine, barring the extreme thickness, distortion and length of his nails, which had previously been cut by the nurse at similar appointments, as both he and I find this task difficult. He was advised that they are not allowed to provide this service and he does not qualify for podiatry, so needs to find a private chiropodist. When my 69 year old partner asked how he was to afford this off his pension, she began asking if family members could cut his nails for him ! Since he has deformed, thickened nails I find it difficult with my muscular disabilities to cut them due to the power required. She then suggested he get our son to deal with them ! Seems like yet another cost cutting exercise. : (
