"Acute Stroke, Stafford DGH and their X-Ray and Fracture Clinic"

About: New Cross Hospital Stafford Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

In July 2011 I had a Stroke and my family and friends were all very impressed with the quality of care and speed of service I received from the West Midlands Ambulance Service who according to my carer and neighbours were excellent and had it not been for their quich responce and care and attention to extract me from where I had my CVA I doubt I would be here to day they took me to Stafford A&E department.

Stafford A&E department. X-Ray & Fracture Clinic given they were dealing with a patient who was non compos mentis who with 3 or more broken bones on the same side from several previous CVA's; they had the added complication of a person with Hemiparesis that due to severe spasticity converts quickly to Hemiplegia and then goes into severe muscle spasms.

Stafford A&E department diagnosing me as having a Stroke they sent me to the acute Stroke Unit at New Cross in Wolverhampton where I did stay until the beginning of August until I was clinically stable then I was sent back to Stafford albeit still non compos mentis and in severe pain.

My family asked that I go to the UHNS as they had done a Brain Scan only two days earlier as I have been under their Neurological Consultants for 12 years however Stafford Management ignored this and sent me to Wolverhampton?

Had I been sent to the UHNS where the pain management clinic has a decade of experience of my pain management it seems strange that Stafford also ignored the obvious clinical and cost benefits of sending me to the UHNS?
