"probably the worst managed Surgery in the borough!"

About: Edenfield Road Surgery

when ever I call - they are fully booked!

I start to ring from 8:30am - by the time I get through sometimes (30 minutes or longer) they always say it is fully booked

just want to point something out:

You are only allowed to book appointments on the day !!

- so call it 5 doctors are in on a specific day - how on earth can 1 or even 2 receptionist fill the diary between 9am and 5pm -so 1 doctor with say an average 30 minute slot per patient! would make it roughly betwen 14-20 people to see per day so 100 for the 5 doctors (understading that they all specialise in different medicine etc - but this is a general practice

now unless they have a call centre with agents answering calls to take bookings, it is very unlikely that they will be able to fully book 100 slots in 30 minutes!!!

I mean can you see the receptionist actually answer 100 calls in 30 minutes - I think not!

as for the receptionist - if you really do not like your job - please go and find something somewhere else where you do enjoy . when you have to be made to wait for so long to book an appointment, then turn up on time to find out after 50 minutes of waiting that there is one doctor whom everyone is seeing that afternoon is utter rubbish management and speaking to your "customer/ patient" like a robot is somewhat distasteful!

you are are receptionist - act like one please

I also feel that when you do arrive whether you use the self booking terminal or speak to one of the receptionist - you need to let people know which waiting room to go to and not expect one to know or have super hearing skills, when you are sat on the waiting area near the reception and the doctor seeing you is actually at the other end of the building -

your website requires updating - spend some time on it if possible - or get someone in to do it as some of the hyper links are not working and the site is not secure !

Well we have seen quite a lot of factual inaccuracies posted on this website, but never such a large amount of uninformed nonsense as this. Just to set the record straight, we open at 8am not 8.30am, so you are half an hour behind with your attempt to book before you start. This is on our website and in our newsletter, along with the fact that we do book a few appointments up to a week ahead, not all on the day as you state. We do usually have 5 clinicians (doctors and nurse practitioners) working each day, but when was the last time you had a 30 minute slot? You get 10 mins for a face to face appointment and 5 mins for a telephone. This is because each person has to get through upto 35 telephone appointments or 26 face to face encounters a day, so yes we do offer over 100 slots a day. We actually have 4 or 5 receptionists filling these slots at a rate of one per minute each morning so they do easily get filled in the first hour. We know it is not enough, but we physically cannot do any more, and cope with home visits and paperwork etc. We do not spend a full day seeing 14 patients and not dong anything else as you seem to think. We would also challenge your statement that you were kept waiting 50 minutes. It is our policy to inform you if your waiting time will be longer than 30minutes, and this is only rarely if we encounter an emergency when seeing patients, and have to admit them to hospital directly from surgery. We note you refer to the receptionist in the singular. If you have an issue with one of them, please take their name and speak to the practice manager, rather than posting all this vitriol and demoralising our entire team, who are doing a difficult job in challenging circumstances. Regarding your comments about the website, if you have read it, and/or our newsletter that goes with it, you will have seen the statements about our opening times, the reasons we cannot meet demand, and that we have now got funding to update the website. You will find this next time you visit the site. The public facing part of the site is obviously not secure, but the pages where you log in to use the online services (which includes online appointment booking, since you find the phone service so frustrating) are as secure as any online banking service. If you are not happy, then as you say to our receptionists, perhaps it is you who should go elsewhere, we clearly have more than enough "customers" to deal with already.
