"Wait time for a dermatologist"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Dermatology (Skin Conditions)

(as a service user),

There is a 6-8 month wait time for a dermatologist. I don't understand why people have to wait for so long to have a specialist appointment. Can't you just recruit more doctors? Patient care is being compromised here. I feel very annoyed at the waiting times.

Dear Pianjk,

I am really sorry that the wait for a Dermatology consultation is longer than we would hope. We are currently struggling to recruit to vacant posts due to a national shortage of Dermatologists.

In the meantime I can report we have got a new consultant starting this week and a new locum in post which will help with waiting times.

If you feel your condition is getting worse could you return to your GP please who can escalate to an urgent referral. You can also contact me on maxinecallow@nhs.net or on tel: 01224 559578 so that I can look into your case.
