Hello, My husband , Robert, has just received today his discharge letter from the Consultant Urological Surgeon, Frimley Health NHSFT St. Mark's Hospital. He is 'stone and stent free' and asymptomatic!
Between the outstanding joint response of the consultant and our
GP, my husband's life was saved in January 2018 as he was developing Sepsis unbeknownst to us.
The doctor responded in a timely manner and referred him after urgent blood tests and the consultant, due to Seven Day Services, was able to coordinate an anaesthetist to urgently respond and together they operated within 24 hours, on a Saturday, to remove a kidney stone that had caused septicaemia and developing Sepsis.
I was in N Ireland when this was occurring and had to travel back not arriving in time for the surgery. The consultant went out of his way to phone me and explain my husband's position and the urgent surgery he had undergone.
I was extremely impressed by his humanity and attention to our anxieties as a family and the care and time he took in addressing them.
The nursing care in hospital was also of an extremely high standard and the ward he was in was exceptionally clean, calm and quiet. The male senior nurse was friendly, compassionate, attentive, informative and went out of his way to ensure my husband was comfortable.
I want to commend the integrated pathway of care we experienced and the joined up timely response from both our GP and your outstanding surgeon.
Please relay our complements to both the consultant and the senior nurse. They are examples of all that is great about the NHS.
Many Thanks Val and Robert
"Amazing life saving surgery"
