Upon finding myself pregnant at the end of March this year I got in contact with Bpas Leeds and was immediately made to feel comforted, welcomed and at ease during my phone call. An appointment was made there and then for me to attend the clinic in 2 weeks time. When the day of my appointment came I was extremely nervous and emotional partly due to my strict catholic upbringing and partly due to my unadvisable googling in the weeks leading up. However as soon as I entered the clinic I was welcomed by calm, friendly staff and quickly seen 1 on 1. I felt comfortable enough to have a little cry to the friendly lady who initially saw me and was comforted, calmed down and even offered a hot chocolate! The options and prodecudures were all explained to me clearly and the choice was all mine. I opted for a medical abortion which would be performed in full that same day and was first given an internal scan to determine my gestation period, my blood type was taken and my GP's office informed. I was sent away for about an hour while my GP's signatures were obtained which gave me time to have something to eat and prepare myself mentally for what was about to happen. I returned to the clinic, was seen quickly and took the relevant medication in the presence of a nurse. I left the clinic feeling relieved, fully informed and prepared for the experience of abortion. I was also given a chart to track my bleeding, a very informative booklet, medication for pain (which helped a lot), condoms and a pregnancy test. I cannot praise this clinic and its staff too highly! Things could not have been more discreet, dignified and reassuring and I would recommend their services to anyone in the same position I found myself.
