"kindness and understanding"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Dermatology

(as a relative),

My Mum (in her 70s) phoned me, she'd had a call about an appointment but couldn't take the information in.   She was a little distressed at her inability to grasp what she needed to know, so to put her mind at ease I phoned the Dermatology ward (as Mum is currently under the care of Dr Donaldson at Dermatology) and was treated with such kindness and understanding there and at the Dermatology Out Pt clinic. it fair made my day speaking to the two women who helped.   I was able to put Mum's mind at ease, a little later she phoned me back to say her appointment letter had arrived too.

A very big thank you to the lovely women I spoke to today, it's the little things, like caring, understanding and compassion, being polite and taking the time out of their busy days, that make a huge difference in people's lives.

Mum tells me Dr Donaldson is the same sort of kind and caring too. I just want to tell all Dermatology staff at Monklands, you are a credit to the NHS, thank you for looking after my Mum with such dignity and respect.

5 stars Scottish NHS.

Dear Starry Towers

Thank you so much for your post on Care Opinion. I read your feedback with such pride. Being treated with kindness and compassion is the person centred care that we strive to deliver every day to all of our patients and their families in the Dermatology service.

I am delighted that we were able to sort out your mum's appointment and that you were treated with care, compassion and understanding.

I will share your experience with the Dermatology staff and Dr Donaldson and I know they will be delighted with your comments.

I wish your mum well and thank you again for your very kind posting.

Kind regards

Eileen
