"Absolutely diabolical!"

About: Chapelthorpe

I don't go to the doctors unless absolutely necessary but when I do need to make an appointment you have to ring for a week before getting annoyed and insisting on one as when you ring at 8.00am when the lines open and finally get through all the appointments have already gone! Anyway, moving on to when you actually get an appointment, my mum was recently diagnosed as Coeliac and was recommended that her children were tested too, so I rang the surgery and made an appointment explaining that I needed a blood test as it had been recommended by my mum's GP that I was to be tested for Coeliac. I turned up for my appointment for the GP to ask why I was there, I explained to be responded with, yeah I recommend you are tested, we'll need to book you in for a blood test! Hello! That's why i'm here!! So I re-booked with the nurse for a blood test, went to the appointment and was told 7 days before the results came back. I left it 7 days and rang to be told they hadn't yet had the results and it can actually take up to 10 days. So I left it again and rang back after 10 days, still no results, told to ring tomorrow and they should hopefully have the results back, This went on for 2 weeks until I got thoroughly annoyed and the surgery 'marked it as urgent'. I finally got a phone call to say my result were back but they needed to make a telephone appointment with the doctor....they wanted me to wait another week for a telephone appointment to which I said no I want an appointment today or tomorrow at the latest! The results came back as positive and the doctor advised she was making a referral (to who i'm not sure as she didn't clarify) and I should hear something with 2-3 days. A week later still nothing so I rang the surgery for an update to be told that no referral had been made and she would need to send a reminder to the doctor to make the referral!! Honestly glad that I don't have a more serious condition because chances are you'd have been admitted to A&E before this joke of a surgery come back to you!!

I am sorry that you have found it difficult to obtain an appointment at the surgery. We do offer pre-bookable appointments, online bookable face to face/telephone and also late night pre-bookable slots on Mondays and Wednesdays. Are you registered for our on-line services? Are you aware of the other services available to you for self management of minor illnesses? We are trying our best to cope with the ever increasing demand and would ask patients to consider other health care professionals that may be able to assist with treatment and advice. Anonymous feedback is always difficult to discuss on line. I would be happy to discuss any of the above issues and explain the procedure for requesting blood tests and the length of time the hospital take to process the results. As I do not have your details I am unable to look in to the delayed referral.

I hope that if you have any further issues with the level of service we provide you feel that you could discuss it with one of the management team and give the practice an opportunity to deal with problems as they arise.
