Firstly I have made several trips to the A&E department of this hospital, with severe pelvic pain that caused me to pass out and hit my head. One doctor on call in a&e told me he wasn’t going to help me and the the symptoms were all in my head. Following this I was later referred by a GP at my local practice under the care of the Gyneacology team at The Whittington Hospital, I received on consultant appointment which was fantastic and very thorough and empathetic. I was grateful for this.
I was referred further for an investigative laparoscopy to see whether I suffered from Endometriosis. The surgeons did not find anything (they were also not Endo specialists) and discharged me very shortly after coming round from general anaesthetic. I was given no follow up and told to change what I eat as it was ‘probably only IBS’. I was made to feel belittled and that I was not taken seriously and given incorrect medical advice as I do not suffer with IBS - my symptoms that were being investigated have continued and worsened since I had the surgery. I was disappointed that I was left with no answers and left to fight for another referral for further investigation by a gynaecology team at another hospital.
