"14 year old daughter admitted to ERI, drunk and hypothermic"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My 14 year old daughter was blue lighted into resus a few weeks ago. We staying in A&E for a few hours but were lucky enough to go home. I work for the NHS  so this is always a tricky situation. Staff Nurse Alan  and Clinical Fellow Robert  were outstanding, as was Nicky on reception. A member of facilities staff whose name I sadly did not catch went out of his way to get me a cup of water despite being very busy, small acts of kindness mean so much when you are at your most vulnerable.

The department was hot and busy and communication was not what I would have wanted but the dept was full to bursting so everyone was doing their best.

I was shown compassion, empathy and respect and my daughter was cared for to a high standard......Thank you all

Thank you very much for your kind words, we really appreciate feed back from our patients and their relatives. I will pass your comments on to the team involved.

I'm sorry that our communication was not as good as it could have been. We'd welcome suggestions to help us improve. We can be contacted either via Care Opinion (by replying below) or at emergencydepartment.feedback@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

I hope your daughter is feeling better. Thank you again for getting in touch.

Best wishes, Sara.
