"Hospital wonderful! Parking!!!! Terrible and..."

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

After my 8week old baby contracted meningitis last year she was admitted to Macclesfield DH. First of all let me start by saying how amazing each and every single member of staff who looked after my daughter. Absolutely great treatment in every way. My daughter has had check up appointment at the hospital twice since she was discharged, the last of which was this week. My issue is the complete lack of parking. I understand there can’t be an endless amount of parking BUT my issue is that there needs to be something done (a parking warden maybe) to control where people park! people we’re over the hatching right outside the door, parked on the end of rows, making the car park even smaller! Basically everywhere!! On leaving (and walking the 25min to my car!) Myself and my 1 year old were very nearly hit by a car, who reversed instead of driving forward! It’s was that much of a close call that she didn’t hit us because people all around were physically gob snacked and one woman actually screamed! I wasn’t just walking ‘willy nilly’ I was trying to walk along towards the dropped curb (but obviously someone was parked over that!!)? The ladie driver was elderly and clearly stress out by the parking situation. This is a very dangerous accident waiting to happen!!! Please do something before someone is seriously hurt!

Thank you very much for your comments, we sincerely apologise for the issues you experienced in our car park.

We are currently looking at the site and exploring ways of how we can create additional car parking, which will not impact on our local residents.

We do have a parking attendant who patrols the site during the week and this is also supported by the Trust’s security Team.

We are however, mindful that we have a limited number of spaces, but this does excuse people parking badly on the hospital site.

We have spoken to the parking attendant and the Security Team today and asked them to increase their patrols around the hospital site.

If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact Teresa Hill, Contract & Performance Manager on 01625 663386.
