"I didn't matter."

About: Conquest Hospital / Rheumatology

This was a 12 month check up in the Rheumatology department at Eastbourne. I had been diagnosed a year earlier with Sjogrens Syndrome, but with no treatment, just a diagnosis. I didn't know how to treat myself or improve my life. I had various pills and potions from my GP which treated symptoms but no more knowledge than that.

I had hoped to discuss my symptoms better and ask for more advice, but was summarily dismissed as it being fairly common. As I now belong to the British Sjogrens Syndrome Ass. I have found out far more than any rheumatologist told me.

I have asked to be referred to Brighton in future, where I hope to be treated as a person and not a number.
